Juventus coach Claudio Ranieri talked about the team's performance in the 1-1 draw away to Artmedia Bratislava in their Champions League preliminary round match.

uventus coach Claudio Ranieri gave his reaction to his team's 1-1 draw in Bratislava against Artmedia, which sealed their passage to the Champions League group stage after the 4-0 win in Turin two weeks ago.

"We knew there wouldn't have been as many goals," he said. "We tried to control the match and we didn't want to lose. We tried to win, we didn't, but it was a good performance."

Ranieri rested a number of first choice players, such as David Trezeguet and Alessandro Del Piero, so Amauri had a chance to play and he took full advantage, scoring the equaliser with a fine header.

"I liked the central partnership in midfield of Christian Poulsen and Claudio Marchisio, as it was the first time they were playing together," he continued.

The coach also talked about Pavel Nedved's angry reaction when he was substituted:"Nedved wasn't happy about the substitution, but I have to think about the game in Florence. It's only natural that he wants to play!"

Juve play their opening match of the Serie A season against Fiorentina, who could be joining them in the Champions League group stage as tomorrow they travel to Prague to defend a 2-0 lead against Slavia.

Gerygera's performance is not so well, and a better player of that position should be signed.
